[ Xin Hua News, June 13, 2002 ] In Dabchag Township in Ushin Banner of Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, the first engineering phase of the Surig Gas Field is under urgent construction. This is the world's largest full-load gas field that the country has ascertained so far.

Changqing Oil Field, a branch company of Petro-China, entered the area in 1999 to explore and open up the gas field. Up to now, drilling of 69 wells has been completed, and a total amount of 602.5 billion cubic meters of gas reserve is ascertained. Purifying Factory No. 2 of Gas Recovering Factory No. 1, Chanqing Oil Field, is located in Shuiqingwan Village of Narin'gol Township in Ushin Banner. According to factory director Liu Feng, they are in charge of the purifying processes such as separating, filtering, desulphurization, and dehydration. After the production has passed quality control steps, it will be transported to the Beijing-Tianjin area and to Hohhot city. The waste water that is created during the production process will be re-processed, and after it is up to the standard, will be injected underground. The waste gas, after it goes through the burning process and is up to the national standard, will be exhausted into the air. Since the first phase of the project was put into production at the factory on October 28 of last year, it has transported nearly 600 million cubic meters of commodity gas, and the quota is up to standard by 100%. At present the second phase of project has also been officially initiated.
