Updates on the protests in Southern (Inner) Mongolia:
In Shuluun Huh Banner, Shiliin-gol League:
1. More than 300 riot police were clashed with hundreds of Mongolian herders and students on May 27; many beaten up;
2. All Mongolian students of the Banner Middle School were confined in the classrooms of the school building top floor preventing them from joining any gathering;
3. More than 40 Mongolian herders and students have been arrested on May 27. None released;
4. Currently the Banner capital is under a complete control of riot police and army. Reportedly more reinforcements are on their way toward the Banner Capital;
5. Streets are sealed off. Local TV station declared that the crackdown is the only choice if protest continues;
6. All schools are ordered to continue classes. No weekend day off;
In Tongliao City, eastern Southern Mongolia:
1. Inner Mongolia Nationality University is sealed off;
2. Internet bloggers and surfers are summoned to the Public Security Bureau;
In Hohhot City, capital of Southern Mongolia:
1. Starting May 27, 4:00 PM Beijing Time, the Hohhot City Nationality University has been sealed off;
2. All high schools, colleges and universities in Hohhot are under police and security forces' tight control;
3. School authorities are ordered to count their students in their dorms regularly to make sure no students are missing;
4. Dissidents and activists are ordered home confinement;
5. All QQ chat rooms are shutdown. Internet is very slow.
